From the page: Banana peels are pure gold
Idea 9
Shoe and leaf polish
The inside of the banana peel has waxes and oils that work as a natural polish, a grandmother's secret for leather and waxy leaves. The wax creates a thin film that restores shine, while the oils moisturize the leather and bring out the color of indoor plant leaves.
What you need
- Ripe banana peel
- Soft cloth or the peel's own inner side
- Dry cloth for finishing
How to make it
-
1
Turn the peel inside out and use the inner side (the white/yellowish one), which concentrates the waxes and oils.
-
2
On leather shoes: rub gently over the entire surface, covering scuffs and dry areas so the leather absorbs the oils.
-
3
On plant leaves: glide the peel slowly over the top of each leaf, from where it sprouts to the tip, removing the dust that blocks light.
-
4
Finish with the dry cloth, rubbing lightly until the natural shine appears.
Finishing touches
On plants, don't use it on the underside of the leaves, where the pores the plant breathes through are. On shoes, a drop of olive oil on the cloth afterwards boosts the leather's moisture.
