From the page: Cork stoppers hold entire worlds

Idea 11

Cable insulation and corner guards

Easy 20 min

Cork cushions impact and doesn't scratch — which is why, historically, it lined drawers, fragile packaging and even studio floors that needed silence. Pieces of stopper glued to table corners protect both the furniture and the child who bumps into it, and stopper slices fitted onto cables organize wires without melting like plastic in the heat.

What you need

  • stoppers cut into slices or in half
  • hot glue or double-sided tape
  • serrated knife

How to make it

  1. 1

Cut the stoppers into half-centimeter slices or use halves, depending on the use.

  2. 2

For corner guards: glue the pieces onto the corner of the table or furniture, covering the whole edge.

  3. 3

For a cable organizer: make a small hole through a whole stopper and thread the wire through it, holding it lightly.

  4. 4

For drawer lining: cut thin slices and glue them side by side on the bottom, creating a soft base that cushions cutlery and glasses.

  5. 5

Press firmly and let the glue cure for a few hours before use.

Finishing touches

stopper slices glued under furniture legs become silent floor protectors — cork in place of felt.
