From the page: Cork stoppers hold entire worlds
Idea 6
Floating keychain charm
Fishermen have used cork as a float forever — it is literally the original material of fishing bobbers, because cork doesn't absorb water quickly and is less dense than water. A stopper keychain floats if it falls in the pool or the sea, which has already saved many car keys from fatal dives.
What you need
- 1 stopper per keychain
- thin drill bit or nail
- small ring and keychain clasp
- permanent marker or paint
How to make it
-
1
Drill the stopper from side to side with the bit, slowly, so it doesn't crack — starting with a thin hole and widening helps.
-
2
Thread the small ring through the hole and attach the clasp.
-
3
Decorate with permanent marker: name, drawing or stripes.
-
4
If you want more durability in water, apply a coat of non-toxic sealer.
Finishing touches
make a set for the whole family, each with their own color, so nobody loses their keys at the beach.
