From the page: Cork stoppers hold entire worlds
Idea 7
Wall message board
Cork boards have existed in offices for over a century, because the material's elasticity holds pins without falling apart — the hole "closes" by itself around the pin. A stopper board serves the same function, but with the charm of giving things a new life, and each stopper carries the memory of a shared bottle.
What you need
- 60 to 100 stoppers cut in half lengthwise
- old picture frame or MDF base
- hot glue
- head pins and paper notes
How to make it
-
1
Prepare the board base and arrange the half stoppers with the flat face out, doing a dry fit first.
-
2
Glue row by row, alternating stoppers of different tones for a mosaic effect.
-
3
Let it dry for 24 hours with weight on top.
-
4
Fit it into the frame and hang it with a firm wall anchor, preferably with a wall plug, because the board weighs more than it seems.
-
5
Use large-head pins, which rest better on the cork.
Finishing touches
outline the board with glued jute cord for a rustic finish that hides imperfect edges.
