From the page: The disposable cup deserves a second chance

Delicate lampshade
Turning plastic containers into lampshades is a technique popularized by urban craft collectives, who discovered that translucent plastic diffuses light beautifully. This happens because the surface scatters the rays in many directions, creating a velvety glow instead of a harsh point of light.
What you need
- Clear or frosted plastic cups (6 to 12, depending on the size you want)
- Hot glue gun or plastic glue
- Scissors
- Pencil or pen for marking
- Cord with socket and LED bulb (low heat)
- Parchment paper or lace (optional, for texture)
How to make it
-
1
Clean and dry the cups well: any grease keeps the glue from sticking and compromises the lamp's structure.
-
2
With the scissors, make vertical cuts along the sides of the cups, creating "petals" about 1 inch wide, without detaching them from the base — this lets you shape the piece with movement and lightness.
-
3
Gently bend each petal outward, one by one, to give it an organic curve: the curved shape spreads light better and avoids the stiff look of the original plastic.
-
4
Join the cups at their bases with hot glue, forming a "flower" or sphere, always pressing for a few seconds: gluing base to base creates the core that holds the whole piece together.
-
5
Attach the cord with socket to the center of the structure, leaving the bulb loose inside without touching the plastic: the LED heats up very little, but the space guarantees safety even after hours on.
-
6
If you want extra texture, line some cups with parchment paper glued to the inside before assembling — the paper adds a layer and softens the glow even more.
Finishing touches
Use only an LED bulb, which heats up far less than incandescent ones, and hang it with reinforced nylon line. A set of three lamps at different heights creates a gorgeous effect over dining tables or reading nooks.
