From the page: Papaya: sweet on the table, powerful on your hair
Idea 1
Ripe papaya mask
Papaya has always been part of tropical beauty rituals: our grandmothers already mashed the fruit onto their faces and hair. Papain, the enzyme found in papaya from green to ripe, helps loosen dead cells and impurities, while the pulp hydrates — that's why the strand feels soft and shiny after rinsing.
What you need
- 1/2 cup of ripe papaya (very soft, with no spoiled spots)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil
- A fork and a clean bowl
- Shower cap or clean plastic bag
How to make it
-
1
Mash the papaya well with the fork until it becomes a smooth purée — the more homogeneous it is, the easier it is to spread and rinse out later.
-
2
Mix in the honey and oil until a creamy paste forms. The honey helps retain moisture and the oil seals the strand, keeping the hair fiber from drying out again.
-
3
Apply to clean or just damp hair, strand by strand, from mid-length to the ends — the roots need less oil.
-
4
Pin your hair up and cover with the cap for 20 to 30 minutes: the natural heat of the scalp under the cap boosts nutrient absorption.
-
5
Rinse with warm water and finish with a gentle shampoo to remove all the oil.
Finishing touches
do a patch test on your forearm before applying and prepare only the amount for the day, storing any extra in the fridge for at most 2 days. On very oily hair, cut the oil in half.
