From the page: The water jug still holds plenty of life

Hanging bird feeder
Homemade hanging feeders are a tradition in backyards and balconies of those who enjoy living alongside local wildlife: the idea is to offer seeds at a high, safe spot, where the bird spots the food and feels protected. Hanging it works because it keeps away ants, cats and rodents that can't reach the perch.
What you need
- A clean, dry water jug
- Wooden spoons or wooden handles (2 units)
- Rope, thick string or wire
- Craft knife or strong scissors
- Marker
- Seeds (canary seed, millet or fine corn)
How to make it
-
1
Wash the jug and let it dry completely, because moisture inside the feeder molds the seeds and makes the birds sick.
-
2
Draw on the body of the jug two opposite openings, round or window-shaped, large enough for a bird to enter, but leaving at least 8 centimeters at the bottom to hold the seeds.
-
3
Cut them out with the craft knife and sand or cover the edges with thick masking tape, so no bird gets hurt on the sharp corners.
-
4
Poke holes on both sides just below each opening and thread the wooden spoons through: they act as perches, and the spoon part left inside collects seeds that flow down naturally.
-
5
Attach the rope through the handle and the cap of the jug and hang it at least 1.5 meters off the ground, on a branch or hook, away from walls that could give cats support.
-
6
Add a thin layer of seeds and observe for a few days to adjust the location according to the birds' visits.
Finishing touches
Replace the seeds every two days and wash the feeder weekly to prevent mold. Position it near trees or bushes: birds feel safer when they have somewhere to quickly hide.
